The National Weather Service has issued a SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH for all of Lycoming County from Thursday (8/27) 3:15pm until Thursday (8/27)10:00pm.
Storms are popping up in western Pennsylvania and heading towards central PA. There is a potential for scattered damaging wind gusts to 70mph possible. Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible and also we can't rule out a tornado.

The National Weather Service has issued a FLOOD WATCH for all of Lycoming County from 12:15pm Thursday (8/20) through 8pm Thursday (8/20).
Periods of rain are expected through the evening. Rainfall amounts up to 3 inches are possible.
Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

The EMA was once again proud to help with the 20th annual Little League Parade in Williamsport on 8/18/26. Our crew of 5 at this event operated as a command center for fire police and parade communications. We also had a member stationed along the parade route communicating updates with the parade. It takes a team to pull this off and we are always glad to help our town and surrounding communities when needed.

Storms are moving through western Pennsylvania and heading towards Central Pennsylvania

It was a very busy Sunday for your EMA. After a Flash Flood Watch and Warning were issued a little after 4pm Sunday Aug 2, 2026, six of our members answered the call to protect the community.

From radar monitoring and reporting, stream readings, constant communications among members, Facebook & Website updating, notifying residents along Brook St and various other activities, we were there. We also had 4 water rescue members on standby and ready for any calls in Montgomery and surrounding communities. It certainly takes a team and we were glad to be there for the community.

Thankfully, even though Montgomery ended up with 3.75" of rain in less than a day, the only damage reported was a tree down and pole broken off near Heritage Park off of West Houston Avenue. The Susquehanna River at Montgomery also only rose to 9ft Monday Morning. We were blessed this rain event didn't cause any problems this time, but it goes to show, you always want to be weather aware.

As of 7am, The National Weather Service has downgraded the crest of the Susquehanna River in Montgomery to approximately 9ft. The heavier storms they were predicting around 11pm never happened.

Final Update for tonight (8/2). The good news is Black Hole Creek is going down. At 10pm, it has dropped almost a foot in one hour. The bad news... There is another line of storms heading our way around 11pm-12am. The creek should drop enough to not be affected, but it's still important to be weather aware tonight and have a way to get weather alerts in case it starts to rise again.

At 8:30pm, Black Hole Creek behind the borough hall appears to have crested at 3.6ft. Black Hole Creek at SnauryTown has also crested. That is good news, however, there are some more storms heading our way later this evening so stay weather aware tonight (8/2).
Also... please be cautious of a pole and tree down behind the Dranktuary. Lights are out because of the power pole being down. EMA will have emergency lights on it soon so it's easier to see.
