Kiwanis Club of Montgomery "Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world, one child and one community at a time."

Our club is involved in a variety of projects that involve fund-raising, community service, and assisting children locally and worldwide. Our club is generous with funds as well as of time. We meet weekly at the Alabama Activities Center on Dexter Avenue at 11:30. While we welcome guest this club membership is by invitation only.

Please join us in congratulating John Wilkerson on an incredible 50 years of service to the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery and the Alabama National Fair!

For five decades, John has given his time, leadership, and heart to making our community a better place. He served as President of the Alabama National Fair in 2000 and President of the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery in 2006, leaving a lasting impact on both organizations.

But beyond the titles and years of service, John’s greatest legacy is the countless hours he has spent helping provide opportunities and support for children in need throughout the River Region.

John’s dedication embodies what Kiwanis is all about — serving children and making a difference in our community. Because of members like John, the Kiwanis Club of Montgomery can continue its mission of changing lives and giving back.

Thank you, John, for 50 years of leadership, service, and dedication. We are so grateful for you and all you have done for Kiwanis and the children of the River Region! 💙

For five decades, Tom has been dedicated to making a difference in the lives of children throughout the River Region. From serving as President of the Alabama National Fair in 1984 to giving countless hours of his time, energy, and heart to our community, Tom’s commitment to service is truly inspiring.

Colonel Christian Watt, Chief Operating Officer of STAR Youth United (Safety from Trafficking, Advocacy, Restoration), spoke to Kiwanis on Tuesday about STAR’s mission to end the exploitation of children through human trafficking while upholding the humanity, dignity, and safety of every child.

Sadly, human trafficking is not just a global issue—it happens right here in our own communities. STAR Youth United is working to educate the public on how to recognize the signs of trafficking, understand how to respond, and know how to report a suspected situation.

Protecting our children takes all of us. By becoming informed and staying vigilant, we can help prevent exploitation and create safer communities for our children.

Thank you, Colonel Watt, for bringing awareness to this critical issue and for the important work STAR Youth United is doing to protect children.

When we die and go to Heaven, God will welcome us and say, “Good job!” But then He will ask, “And who did you bring with you?”

Anthony Brock, founder and Head of School at Valiant Cross Academy, lives and works every day with that question on his heart.

Mr. Brock spoke to Kiwanis yesterday about his incredible work to transform the lives of African American boys and young men in Montgomery—from potential lives of crime to lives filled with purpose, promise, and opportunity.

Valiant Cross continues to grow and expand its impact. In addition to their traditional school, they have opened a new elementary school on the campus of Alabama State University. They have also begun educating young girls and children who have not regularly attended school since 2020.

And the best part? Their students are thriving!

Valiant Cross has won a football state championship, has a winning basketball team, and has a fabulous golf program. Their students are graduating and going on to college, trade school, the military, or into the workforce. And Valiant Cross doesn’t stop supporting them at graduation—they continue to walk alongside their students and help them navigate life’s decisions and challenges.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you, Mr. Brock, and the entire Valiant Cross team, for the incredible work you are doing for the children of our community.

You are changing lives, creating futures, and truly bringing others with you through the gates of Heaven. ❤️
