Federal grant opportunity: The National Park Service is currently accepting applications for the Save America’s Treasures grant program, but the deadline (June 16, 2026) is fast approaching!

$25.5 million in funding is available. Grants are split into two different opportunities: preservation grants and collections grants. Learn more about the program and eligibility at go.nps.gov/sat.

- Collections projects support museums, libraries, archives, and all other collecting institutions in addressing conservation needs of nationally significant collections, including physical conservation, care, and collections management. Collections include artifacts, museum collections, documents, sculptures, and other works of art.

- Preservation projects fund planning and "bricks and mortar" preservation/conservation work on historic buildings and structures listed in the National Register of Historic Places for national significance or designated a National Historic Landmark.

“I was always told my work is too colorful, it’s too funky, too ethnic, too... And I just felt like, ‘Oh, I don’t know what I’m doing.’”

On this week’s Arts Fell on Alabama, multidisciplinary artist Yogi Dada reflects on the critiques that led her to step away from painting for nearly 20 years. But then, after her mother died, she turned her grief into art and began creating the bold earrings she calls her “Dadas.”

Hear her story wherever you get your podcasts. And never miss an episode when you give us a follow! 🎧

Last week, we gathered to celebrate Eric Essix, Scott Wright, Ralph Frohsin Jr., Debbie Bond, Gary Chapman, George Culver, and Gary Waldrep for their contributions to arts and creativity in our state.

From music and dance to opera and theatre, the 2026 Celebration of Alabama Arts presented captivating tribute performances along with short documentaries highlighting the honorees’ careers. It was a privilege to recognize the work of these seven incredible individuals – and the artistry and talent that abounds within Alabama’s arts community. Thank you to all who joined us for a wonderful evening (and thanks to Lush Photography for capturing the event)!
