At the request of the Legislature and County Manager, and in association with local employers, the Sullivan County Center for Workforce Development will be holding a job fair this Tuesday, September 1 at the Sullivan County Adult Care Center for workers who will be displaced by the facility’s coming closure.
“Care Center staff are working tirelessly to find new homes for residents under their care, and we want to be sure to find new employment opportunities for them when their jobs are complete,” noted County Manager Joshua Potosek. “They have talents and skills that are in high demand across the region, as evidenced by the number of potential employers who’ve already signed up to be at the job fair.”
Those include Achieve Rehabilitation and Nursing, the ARC of Greater Hudson Valley, The Center for Discovery, New Hope Community, Roscoe Rehabilitation and Nursing Center, Valley View Center, A&T Healthcare and Always Compassionate Health.
“This opportunity is open only to Care Center employees, not the general public,” explained Community Resources Commissioner Laura Quigley, who oversees the Center for Workforce Development. “The County and these employers want to give our dedicated staff every chance to continue working, living and raising a family locally, and we’ll be encouraging all 86 County employees at the Care Center to talk to us on Tuesday. We can also help them in advance with their resumes.”
The Center for Workforce Development seeks to build a robust, diverse economy by bringing businesses and the workforce together. Anyone looking for a job in Sullivan County is welcome to visit the Career Center at 50 North Street in Monticello and access both advice and tools to build skills, find meaningful work, and ace interviews with local employers.
