Four newly constructed homes have hit the market in Sullivan County, marking a major step forward in addressing the area’s housing shortage and creating new opportunities for local families to become homeowners.

Developed by the Sullivan County Land Bank Corporation, these homes are situated on lots that have been vacant for years. Two homes are in Liberty (45 Pinehurst Drive W & 43 Pinehurst Drive E), and two are in Monticello (23 Spring Street & 165 Park Avenue). All four are priced affordably at $275,000 for local residents, with priority given to buyers who live or work in Sullivan County.

Four new houses, a whole lot of teamwork, and an unbelievably fast turnaround — we broke ground in JULY and these homes are already complete! 🏡✨

The Sullivan County Land Bank is proud to unveil our newest single-family homes in Monticello and Liberty, all of which will be sold to people who live or work right here in Sullivan County. Local homes for local families — exactly as it should be. These homes are on track to be available to those making up to 120% ami, at the beginning of 2026.

A huge thank you to our Land Bank Board for your leadership, support, and commitment to keeping this mission moving. You ask the right questions, you show up, and you never lose sight of the bigger picture.

And Kavleski Excavating— you absolutely crushed this project. A local contractor delivering high-quality work on an incredible timeline. We couldn’t ask for better partners.

And of course, a very special thank-you to our Land Bank Administrator, Serra, the driving force behind this entire effort. Her dedication and coordination made this project possible from start to finish.

Broadway’s Second Act 🎭

Monticello’s long-vacant Broadway Theater is back in business in a brand new way! Meet Bowling on Broadway, a two-story venue with bowling lanes, arcade games, and a full-service restaurant.

The Sullivan County Land Bank acquired the shuttered building and returned it to productive use through a targeted sale for redevelopment. The ribbon cutting is set for this week.

This project preserves the building’s historic façade and brings new life to Broadway and downtown Monticello 🎳

🚧 Big news for Monticello! 🚧

We're excited to share the Draft Analysis of Brownfield Cleanup Alternatives (ABCA) for public review and comment.

This 5.6-acre property, located at 15 High Street in the Village of Monticello, Sullivan County, New York, was once a hospital and nursing home. Environmental assessments have confirmed that soil remediation is required before the site can be safely redeveloped. To support this effort, SCLB received a $500,000 grant from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to address contamination and prepare the site for future use.

Earlier today after our monthly meeting, the Sullivan County Land Bank Board attended a Board Retreat. This retreat was hosted at the beautiful Roscoe Mountain Club and lead by Hudson Valley Pattern for Progress’s own, Adam Bosch.

During our day, we learned about the growing need for safe and affordable housing in our community. The Sullivan County Land Bank’s mission is to strengthen neighborhoods by mitigating blight through strategic property acquisition that will create vibrant neighborhoods, increase homeownership, stimulate economic growth and support community development by returning properties to productive use and improve quality of life.

Early yesterday morning, one of our Land Bank-owned buildings, which was awaiting redevelopment for 76 affordable housing units, experienced a fire. We sincerely thank the emergency personnel who responded swiftly and effectively. Your dedication and hard work are greatly appreciated.

The Sullivan County Land Bank remains committed to mitigating blight to create vibrant neighborhoods. It will continue to work with our partners to rebuild and move forward with this critical project.
