Wayne County Public Library Bookmobile

Wayne County Public Library Bookmobile Serving those who are unable to visit the library due to long-term mobility issues/lack of transportation, & homeschooling families!📚

The bookmobile is a library on wheels, operated by Brianna Vaughn, serving Wayne County residents who are not able to visit the library due to either mobility issues or a lack of transportation primarily. We also serve homeschool families, childcare facilities, private schools, and adult day care facilities, along with the many Little Libraries throughout the county. We allow patrons to board the

bookmobile and select materials, just as they would inside the library, as well as offering porch drop-offs and home-visits. We currently operate on a 3 week rotation, and patrons are assigned routes based on their location within the county. The bookmobile holds approximately 2,000 books, movies, and magazines at all times, and the stock rotates seasonally. Since we are on the road most of the time, the best way to reach us is directly via messenger!

Happy National Dog Day! 🐶❤️

We love all of our bookmobile pups over here — and this happy guy is Lucky! I've known him for over 6 years now, and he's always excited to see the bookmobile coming. 🥰

Would it be weird if I bought some Meta glasses solely for the purpose of making a Bookmobile Pups compilation?? Because I feel like y'all deserve to see these dogs the way I do. 😂🤣

Also... can I see your dog? 🐕💕 Pictures in the comments, please!

Our bookmobile kids have been asking for another reading challenge, and I had something completely different in mind for our next one.

But after today’s news, I felt inspired to bring a little more Dolly to the bookmobile, and I was led to a reading challenge that feels like the perfect way to honor her legacy. 💕

Dolly Parton’s impact on children and families reaches far beyond her music. Through the gift of books, she has helped generations of children discover the joy of reading, dreaming a little bigger, and believing in themselves.

That impact is especially meaningful here in our community. So many of our families have received Dolly’s books through Imagination Library, and my own children loved seeing those books arrive in the mail.

So, in memory of Dolly, we’re bringing this challenge to the bookmobile with a special focus on something she has always encouraged: kindness. Books can change a child’s world, but so can a small act of kindness.

I hope this challenge gives our kids a chance not only to read, but to spread a little kindness wherever they go, and to carry a little piece of Dolly’s legacy with them. And why stop at the kids? This will be open to all ages!

No small act of kindness is ever too small. 🦋

Thank you, Dolly, for the books, the imagination, the generosity, and the reminder that we can all make the world a little brighter for someone else. You will be missed, but your legacy will continue in the hands of the children who turn your pages. 📚

Printed copies will be on the available on the bookmobile starting tomorrow, and can be turned in to Ms. Brianna throughout the month of September.

Made a few wrong turns and spotted a bread-truck style bookmobile in a parking lot. I pulled in and noticed I had stumbled upon the Whitley County Public Library. To my surprise, when I got out to take a look, I got a 2 for 1 - another bookmobile to the side of their library! Love seeing other bookmobiles. Especially loved how fun & colorful these are. ❤📚

Catching up on the last of the Summer Reading photos - based solely on the willingness of the teenagers to participate, beaded garden snakes was the most popular activity of the Summer! Even if they all didn't want their picture taken. 🤣
