Yeehaw, everybody! The Shady Dale Rodeo is happening tonight at 8pm!

Expect heavier traffic and possible delays on Hwy 83 North before and after the event. Deputies will be directing traffic at the main entrance and will be patrolling the area throughout the event to help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening.

Please slow down, follow traffic directions, and allow extra travel time if you're traveling through the area.

Have fun, stay safe, and enjoy the rodeo!

This Memorial Day, we join our community in honoring the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Their courage and selflessness gave us the freedoms we enjoy today, and their legacy will never be forgotten.

As we spend time with family and friends this weekend, we encourage everyone to pause and remember the true meaning of Memorial Day — honoring those who never made it home and praying for the families who will forever grieve.

We also ask our community to help keep this weekend safe for everyone. Please drive responsibly, be patient on the roads, look out for one another, and never drink and drive. We wish everyone a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend!

Today, on Peace Officers Memorial Day, we stand together as a community to honor the brave law enforcement officers who made the ultimate sacrifice while protecting and serving others.

Behind every badge is a person who chose a life of service — a neighbor, parent, spouse, friend, or friend committed to keeping our communities safe and often at a great risk.

This year, we have already lost two officers in the line of duty in the state of Georgia. We are reminded that these sacrifices are not distant tragedies — they affect families, agencies, and communities across our own state. Today, we honor the fallen, support the officers who continue to serve, and remember the families who carry the weight of that sacrifice every day.

Please join us in keeping the families of fallen officers and all those who wear the badge in your thoughts and prayers.

The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is proud to officially introduce the newest member of our family — K-9 J.C.! 🐾

K-9 J.C. will serve as a narcotics detection dog, but even more importantly, he will serve as a certified THERAPY dog dedicated to supporting and connecting with the children in our schools. His primary assignment will be with the students and staff at Washington Park Elementary School and Jasper County Primary School, where we know he will quickly become a familiar and comforting face.

What makes this even more special is that our students helped choose his name! Over the past several months, classes at both schools worked together to submit name ideas for our new K-9. After reviewing all of the thoughtful and creative submissions, we are excited to announce that his official name is.......… J.C.!

Sheriff Pope wanted this to be more than just welcoming a new K-9 — he wanted our children and community to feel like they were part of something meaningful from the very beginning. Thanks to the students, teachers, and families who participated, J.C. already belongs to this community before his training has even begun.

This summer, K-9 J.C. and his handler will spend countless hours training together to prepare for the important work ahead. Once completed, J.C. will become an incredible asset to our schools — helping provide safety, comfort, encouragement, and positive interactions for students every single day.

We are excited for the future of this program and grateful for the continued support from our amazing community. Please help us welcome K-9 J.C. to Jasper County!

🚨FRAUD PREVENTION FRIDAY🚨

We’re seeing an increase in scams involving individuals being contacted about missing jury duties and claims that you have an outstanding warrant.

Please know that law enforcement will NEVER call, text, or email you demanding payment to avoid arrest. Sometimes these scammers can “spoof” phone numbers to make it look like they’re calling from a local agency and more often than not they will pressure you to act immediately and request payment through gift cards, Cash App, or cryptocurrency.

If you receive a call like this just HANG UP and BLOCK the number. Even when the scammer is telling you to stay on the phone or you will get in trouble, just HANG UP. This is not how law enforcement operates. If you ever receive a phone call like this and are unsure if it is a scam or not, give us a call! We are here to help.

💡 Remember:
Urgent threats + unusual payment methods = SCAM
