The Jasper County Sheriff’s Office is proud to officially introduce the newest member of our family — K-9 J.C.! 🐾
K-9 J.C. will serve as a narcotics detection dog, but even more importantly, he will serve as a certified THERAPY dog dedicated to supporting and connecting with the children in our schools. His primary assignment will be with the students and staff at Washington Park Elementary School and Jasper County Primary School, where we know he will quickly become a familiar and comforting face.
What makes this even more special is that our students helped choose his name! Over the past several months, classes at both schools worked together to submit name ideas for our new K-9. After reviewing all of the thoughtful and creative submissions, we are excited to announce that his official name is.......… J.C.!
Sheriff Pope wanted this to be more than just welcoming a new K-9 — he wanted our children and community to feel like they were part of something meaningful from the very beginning. Thanks to the students, teachers, and families who participated, J.C. already belongs to this community before his training has even begun.
This summer, K-9 J.C. and his handler will spend countless hours training together to prepare for the important work ahead. Once completed, J.C. will become an incredible asset to our schools — helping provide safety, comfort, encouragement, and positive interactions for students every single day.
We are excited for the future of this program and grateful for the continued support from our amazing community. Please help us welcome K-9 J.C. to Jasper County!
