Beyond the Yellow Ribbon - Monticello The mission of the BTYR program is to provide a network of resources and volunteers to assist the so

A Yellow Ribbon County unites key areas and communities throughout a county to create a comprehensive network that connects and coordinates county-level agencies, organizations, resources and employers for the purpose of proactively supporting Servicemembers and military families. By developing a Yellow Ribbon County Network, county communities unite to honor and embrace those affected by military deployments. The outward showing of support enables successful transition all the way home. The county’s effort transcends the military to any group in need and builds stronger, more compassionate communities.

Family found!

Wright County Veteran Services is looking to find a needle in a haystack in an attempt to locate the descendants of Lorenzo D. Johnson, a Civil War veteran with the 3rd Wisconsin Infantry who died May 30, 1909.
Wright Veteran Services Officer Greg Pickard was notified that a headstone was found in the back of a junked vehicle in St. Cloud that was going to get scrapped and decided to take the headstone in the event the family of Mr. Johnson could be located or the headstone would have been destroyed.
While admittedly a long shot to find the family of this veteran, if you know a family that may be related to Mr. Johnson (born May 6, 1846, died May 30, 1909), please contact Wright County Veteran Services at (763) 682-7325

UPDATE: This post was from July 2021. There was a huge outpouring of people who did what is happening now. We located some of Mr. Johnson's descendants and the headstone was brought to the cemetery where Mr. Johnson is buried. Thank you to all of you who assisted with this.

September is Su***de Prevention Month and the veteran community is markedly more at risk than the general population of committing su***de - 22 vets a day on average take their own lives. The Disabled Veterans National Foundation has resources available to vets who are struggling. To learn more, click here: http://www.co.wright.mn.us/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=1944
