Jones County 4-H announced today that registration is open for our 2026 Summer Science Discovery Day Camps! We can't wait to see the learning and fun that happen at this camps throughout the county in June and July!

Jones County 4-H Summer Science Discovery Day Camps are now open for 2026 registration!

From hands-on activities like coding and LEGO building to exploring agriculture and gardening, there’s something for every curious young learner.

Spots are limited, so be sure to sign up your Clover Kid or 4-H aged child soon! Youth do not have to be active 4-H or Clover Kids members to participate in these day camps. Check out the link in the comments for all the details and to register.

Jones County is hosting a private well stewardship program on Wednesday, April 1 at 6pm. We still have space and are asking for pre-registration by calling the office at 319-465-3224 or emailing [email protected].

Roughly 230,000 Iowans rely on private wells as their home’s main water source. Yet, only 5–10% of Iowa households with private wells test their water quality annually.­­­­ ­­­­💧

The Private Well Stewardship Program educates well owners about the responsibilities and risks of being a private well owner and connects them with additional resources to manage their wells, including funding opportunities. Multiple workshops are planned across the state this spring.

Two-thirds of Iowa farmland is owned by those age 65 and older—making transition planning more important than ever. Yet many farm operations still lack a written estate or succession plan.

To help, Iowa State University Extension and Outreach provides a free online portal to help farm families work through the legal, financial and communication pieces of planning for the future.

Egg-citing things happening today in Jones County! Brooke delivered eggs to classrooms at Midland and St Pats along with the public libraries in Monticello and Anamosa for chick hatching. Tomorrow she will deliver to Olin Elementary. We love seeing Agriculture in the Classroom in action and partnering with Jones County Farm Bureau!
