🚨 Memorial Day Weekend Safety Tips 🚨

As we head into Memorial Day weekend, we want to help you and your family stay safe while enjoying the holiday. Whether you’re hitting the road, lighting up the grill, or spending time outdoors, here are some important DO’s and DON’Ts to keep in mind:

✅ DO:

✍🏼Plan Ahead: Share your travel plans with a friend or family member and check weather conditions before heading out.

🌭Grill Safely: Keep grills at least 10 feet away from buildings and supervise children and pets around hot surfaces.

💧Stay Hydrated: Drink plenty of water, especially in the heat or while consuming alcohol.

🏊🏼‍♂️Practice Water Safety: Always supervise children around water, wear life jackets when boating, and swim in designated areas with lifeguards.

📍Know Your Location: If you need to call 911, knowing your exact location helps us get help to you faster.

🧴Use Sunscreen: Protect skin from sunburn and heat-related illnesses by applying SPF regularly.

🚘Designate a Driver: Never drink and drive. Arrange a sober ride if you plan to consume alcohol.

🚫 DON’T:

🎆 Don’t Use Fireworks Illegally: Check your local laws before using fireworks. Never let children handle them.

👧🏼🐶 Don’t Leave Kids or Pets in Cars: Even a few minutes in a hot car can be deadly.

🔌 Don’t Overload Electrical Outlets: When using outdoor lights or appliances, avoid creating fire hazards.

🚣🏼‍♀️ Don’t Ignore Boating Rules: Operating watercraft under the influence is illegal and dangerous.

☎️ Don’t Hesitate to Call 911: If you see something dangerous or someone needs medical help, call us right away. We’re here 24/7.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Keep the Whole Family Safe

•Teach kids how and when to call 911.
•Create a meeting spot in case you get separated in a crowd.
•Pack a basic first aid kit for road trips or outdoor adventures.

From our 911 family to yours, we wish you a safe and meaningful Memorial Day weekend. Let’s honor the holiday by looking out for each other and making smart choices.

Remember: In an emergency, call 911. We’re always here to help.
