..WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM MIDNIGHT TONIGHT TO 5 PM EST SATURDAY...

* WHAT...Rain will develop and change to snow tonight. Total snow
accumulations of 4 to 6 inches will occur, with locally higher
amounts possible.

* WHERE...The Winter Storm Warning is for portions of east
central, south central and southeast Kentucky.

* WHEN...The Winter Storm Warning is in effect from midnight
tonight to 5 PM Saturday.

* IMPACTS...Travel may become very difficult.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Warm ground temperatures will hinder snow
accumulation. However, heavy snowfall rates will overcome the
initial melting and allow the snow to accumulate.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you must travel, keep an extra flashlight, food, and water in
your vehicle in case of an emergency

* When, from 1pm Thursday to 7am EST Friday.

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN JACKSON HAS ISSUED A * FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR PORTIONS OF EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY, NORTHEAST KENTUCKY, SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY, AND SOUTHEAST KENTUCKY, INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING AREAS, IN EAST CENTRAL KENTUCKY, BATH, ELLIOTT, ESTILL, FLEMING, MENIFEE, MONTGOMERY, POWELL, AND ROWAN. IN NORTHEAST KENTUCKY, JOHNSON AND MARTIN. IN SOUTH CENTRAL KENTUCKY, LAUREL, MCCREARY, PULASKI, ROCKCASTLE, WAYNE, AND WHITLEY. More rounds of heavy rain are anticipated tonight through Saturday night. With 1.5 to 3 inches of additional rainfall possible across the area today into early Sunday and ground conditions already very saturated, significant flooding concerns will exist. The first round of heavier rainfall will move through Saturday morning, with another one coming Saturday night. Those with travel plans will want to be cautious as many roads could become flooded this weekend. Mud and rock slides are also anticipated again this weekend.
