Radar Time 2:40 pm - The initial line of storms is advancing through southeast Illinois. Two more supercell storms have developed to the west of that line. One east of Edwardsville and the other in eastern Missouri. Additional storms are expected to develop along that line and move east at 30 mph, with tornadoes possible.

4:40 am Update:

While a Level 3 severe weather threat remains in place for today, there now appears to be 2 periods of concern. One will be from mid morning through midday, then late afternoon through the evening. With the morning/midday storms, the main threats would be scattered wind damage and a few areas of flash flooding.

The extent of the afternoon and evening storms will depend on how fast the midday activity diminishes, but the timing of it still looks to be late afternoon through the evening. The morning storms will lay out an east-west boundary near or south of I-72, and the higher tornado risk will be south of there.

04/25/2026

An enhanced risk of severe weather (level 3 of 5) continues for Monday, with a greater than 45% chance of severe storms. The period from mid afternoon through the evening is the time frame of concern, and all hazards remain in play. Continue to monitor the forecast in the coming days.

03/26/2026

There remains a significant threat of severe weather across much of central Illinois later today, especially this evening. The highest risk (level 3 of 5) extends from about Peoria and Springfield eastward; this area has the highest chance of seeing hail larger than golf balls, and wind gusts over 70 mph. The window for tornadoes is smaller than the overall severe weather threat, generally before 8 pm. As the storm push further south toward I-70 by late evening, they will be in a weaker state, but still capable of producing some hail and strong winds. Continue to monitor the weather today, especially as we get later into the afternoon hours, and be prepared to move quickly if severe weather threatens your area.

Stay home.

Snow will ramp up this evening and especially Sunday AM. If you’re in red/pink, please stay home!

Roads will be snow packed and dangerous. Temps in the single digits will make roads very difficult to clean. Blowing snow will lead to low visibility.

Please stay home!
