An Evening with Eric Gordon: A Milestone Concert of Music, Faith, and New Vision

Monticello, IL – July 2025 – Veteran singer-songwriter Eric Gordon will take the stage for a heartfelt solo performance on Saturday, July 26, at the Monticello Community Building (201 North State Street, Monticello, IL). Doors open at 6:00 p.m., and the show begins at 7:00 p.m. Admission is just $10 at the door. Concessions will be available. General admission only – no reserved seating.

This special concert marks Eric’s first solo performance since experiencing major vision loss—a journey that has profoundly reshaped his outlook. “I may have lost part of my eyesight,” Gordon shares, “but I’ve gained a new kind of vision—one that sees deeper into life, into faith, and into music.”

Eric’s ongoing struggle with vision issues has involved more than a dozen years of medical care, including major eye surgeries at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. While treatments have helped manage long-term pressure issues, the impact on his vision has been life-changing—deepening his faith and inspiring a new chapter in his music.

Eric will be joined by an all-star band of local talent for this performance:

• Mike Brake on drums

• Kathy Brake on piano

• Bill Rappleyea on bass guitar

• Tom Parton on lead guitar

With nearly 40 years in the music industry, Eric Gordon is a well-known presence on the Midwest country circuit. He has performed with several prominent country oprys throughout Illinois, including:

• Primetime Country Opry (Olympia High School, Stanford, IL)

• Bement Country Opry (Monticello, IL)

• Kentuckiana Opry (Hopedale, IL)

• Bellflower Country Opry (Bellflower, IL)

• New Salem Country Opry (Petersburg, IL)

He has also played with numerous bands and musicians across the region. His 2013 single “I Believe” reached #1 on international radio, and his music continues to be streamed worldwide.

Eric’s original songs—“With a Girl Like You,” “Southern Kisses,” and “Beaches of Rural Route One”—are available on Spotify, Amazon Music, Apple Music, and all major streaming platforms. He is currently working on a new album, set to release in late 2025 or early 2026, filled with music that reflects faith, resilience, and renewal.
