It’s been just over a year since we set out to deepen our roots in the community. Our biggest mission? Giving back to our emergency service partners through mutual aid response outside the airport, all while maintaining our strict, FAA-required airfield protection.
Looking back, it has been an incredibly rewarding and busy year!
🇺🇸 Community Outreach Highlights:
• Participated in the LLWS Grand Slam parade and local community parades.
• Partnered with Montoursville Fire Department (Willing Hand Hose Co.) for Fire Safety Week and their Open House.
• Joined forces with the PA State Police for Trunk or Treat in Loyalsock Twp.
🔥 Advancing Our Training:
To provide the best possible service to our airport and mutual aid partners, Station 19 members have been hard at work:
• Industrial Fire Training: Two members attended the TEEX Fire Training Center to master new F3 foam capabilities through live-fire aircraft, railcar, and bulk storage fuel scenarios.
• Annual Live-Fire Aircraft Training: Hosted right here at our airport and opened up to all local responders for hands-on truck ops, search and rescue, and egress procedures.
• F3 Foam Training: National Foam and MES brought a specialized mobile F3 training session to our airfield for Station 19 personnel and local responders.
• Joint Company Training: Conducted company-level drills with Woodward Township Volunteer Fire Company VFC and Duboistown Fire & EMS.
🤝 Special Milestones & Box Cards:
• Hughesville Volunteer Fire Department: A special thanks to Chief Dan Dorman and the crew for giving us our very first opportunity to run an outside mutual aid call!
• Loyalsock Volunteer Fire Company No. 1:Thank you for officially adding us to your box cards for working fires.
• Montgomery Volunteer Fire Company and Clinton Township Volunteer Fire Company: Thank you for adding us to your working box responses.
We are incredibly grateful for these opportunities to build strong relationships, expand our reach, and protect the citizens who support us.
🔮 Looking Ahead:
We are incredibly proud of what we've built this past year, and we are already looking forward to training with Old Lycoming Twp Vol Fire Co and other local companies in the upcoming year!
🧑🚒 The Heart of Station 19:
None of this happens without the incredible hard work and dedication of our members—and the unwavering support of their families. Our personnel carry a heavy load, managing both continuous airfield maintenance and specialized fire/rescue operations. They put in countless hours keeping the airfield safe, training, and responding to emergency calls. Every member is highly trained in emergency response, and many proudly serve as volunteers in your own local neighborhoods when off the clock.
✈️ In Conclusion:
We owe a deep debt of gratitude and appreciation to our Airport Board members and Airport Directors for their vital support of this community outreach program. Their full approval and backing are what allow us to step forward, look beyond the runway, and give back to our local communities.
Thank you for standing with us as we protect both our airfield and our community. ✈️🚒
