📢 ORDINANCE 691 ADOPTED BY MONTPELIER CITY COUNCIL

At last night's City Council meeting, Ordinance 691 was approved to address the proper use of water at the City RV Dump Station.

Under this ordinance, water provided at the RV dump station is intended solely for the filling, rinsing, flushing, and cleaning of recreational vehicle tanks, hoses, and related equipment during the wastewater disposal process. Water use must be directly connected to the immediate use of the RV dump station and may not be stored, transported, or used elsewhere.

🚫 Prohibited Uses Include:
• Filling tanks, containers, trailers, or other vessels for transport or off-site use
• Agricultural, livestock, irrigation, or commercial use
• Residential water supply or storage
• Any use not directly related to cleaning, rinsing, or filling RV waste systems while using the dump station
• Tampering with, bypassing, or modifying water fixtures or delivery systems

⚠️ Violations & Penalties:
• Violations are considered infractions.
• The base fine is $300 per offense.
• Each separate unauthorized use, and each day a violation continues, may be treated as a separate offense.
• The City may also seek restitution for the value of water taken, damages to City infrastructure, and any related costs.
• Enforcement may be carried out by law enforcement officers or other authorized City officials.

The City appreciates everyone's cooperation in helping protect and conserve our community's water resources while ensuring the RV dump station remains available for its intended purpose.

For questions regarding Ordinance 691, please contact Montpelier City Hall (208) 847-0824.
