Thanks to Vermont Humanities for partnering with us to bring poet Tina Cane to Montpelier's Union Elementary School for a writing workshop with several fourth grade classes. Tina is offering a reading tonight at the Library at 6pm - hope to see you there!

Tina Cane is the founder/director of Writers-in-the-Schools, RI, and, from 2016-2024, served as the Poet Laureate of Rhode Island where she lives with her husband and three children. In her capacity as poet laureate, Cane established her state’s first youth poetry ambassador program in partnership with Rhode Island Center for the Book, and brought the Poetry-in-Motion program from the New York City Transit System to Rhode Island’s state-wide buses.

Starting in May - and the first Wednesday of each month from 3-5 we are holding a FREE Medical Clinic held at Kellogg-Hubbard Library.

Insurance not taken - this clinic is for those who are uninsured or underinsured.

The Kellogg-Hubbard Library announced today that Director of Library Services Carolyn Picazio is departing the Library after distinguished ten-year tenure to become the Library Director at the Waterbury (VT) Public Library. Working with the Executive Director, Picazio managed all aspects of daily library services, including technology, collection development, and patron services. She has also helped mentor and develop our talented staff of librarians. Link in comments to read about about Carolyn's work here at the Library. The Kellogg-Hubbard Library is seeking a part-time Custodian. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for library patrons, staff, and visitors. This position performs routine cleaning, maintenance, and facility support tasks throughout the library building and surrounding grounds. The Custodian plays an important role in ensuring the library remains a comfortable and well-maintained community space. This is a 15-hour per week position with a flexible schedule, with work to be completed primarily outside of the Library’s open hours.

Starting pay is $20.40/hour, increasing to $24.00/hour on July 1, 2026, along with an excellent benefits package. This position is part of the library’s collective bargaining unit.
