New equipment alert!

We’re pleased to share that we have added Res-Q-Jacks to our response capabilities! Over the past two days, members participated in hands-on training to ensure these tools can be deployed safely and effectively in the field.

While the training scenarios focused on vehicle stabilization during motor vehicle accidents, this equipment is highly versatile and will enhance our ability to manage a wide range of emergency situations. The addition of these tools strengthens both responder safety and our ability to protect the community.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Kevin O’Brien of Firematic Tools, for supplying the equipment, as well as for providing valuable training and ongoing support.

We also greatly appreciate Jamie and Cam Bolduc, and the entire team at Bolduc Metal Recycling & Storage Containers, for generously providing vehicles and a location to conduct this training. Their continued partnership is a tremendous asset to our department.

This morning’s incident highlights the importance of proper staffing in delivering the highest level of service to our community. With a scheduled crew of only three members on duty, we were fortunate that this call occurred when it did. Three off-duty members were still in the building. Another member, who was in town for business, was able to respond, and both the Chief and Deputy Chief also responded. Thanks to this collective effort, we were able to bring the incident to a successful outcome.

Situations like this highlight how dependent we currently are on chance and availability, rather than guaranteed staffing, to meet the needs of our community.

12/11/2025

We are all mourning the loss of our brother, Glenn Marold. Glenn served our city as a member of the callforce, as a part-time EMT and ultimately as a career Firefighter/EMT for over 20 years. In retirement he could be found for many years with his wife, on State St. as the owner of Uncle Mike's Deli. Glen was kind, larger than life, caring, strong, funny, a great cook, and an even better guitar player. But above all, to us he was a dear friend and "brother". Our thoughts are with Carol and his family. The attached obituary contains date and time information for services. There is a section where you can share memories and stories of Glenn, please consider sharing those with the family. Additional information for first responders will be posted soon. Any questions can be directed to Lt. Jake Larrabee
City of Montpelier, VT - City Government Montpelier Police Department
