You are invited to attend an Americana Costume Event…

Window Dressing: A Gala Celebrating the Fashion of Susquehanna County in History
A dinner dance to benefit the window restoration project of the Susquehanna County Historical Society

Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at The Relic, 228 Church St, Montrose
Doors open at 5:30. Dinner 6 pm. Dancing until 9:30

Wear a costume denoting your favorite period of Susquehanna County history and come to eat, chat and dance the night away. Victorian ladies and gents, soldiers, homemakers, teachers, preachers, flappers, farmers and others will be partying like it’s 1899! Don’t have a costume? Find a hat, a scarf, or a fine pair of suspenders and come along!

Dinner will be provided by Darrows and oldies music by Mama Bullmoose.

Auction and 50/50 opportunities will be available.

Ticket cost is $60 per person includes dinner, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks. Tickets may be purchased at the Historical Society or by phone (570-278-1622) by credit/debit card with a 3% fee.

Reservations are due May 18th.

Step inside and be transported back to 1854 —
where candlelight sets the mood, conversations are a bit more formal… and a few new rules apply:

• No modern music after 9PM (string quartets encouraged 🎻)
• Guests must greet one another properly upon arrival
• No phones — telegrams only
We appreciate your cooperation in preserving the authenticity of the space.

Don’t worry… we’ll arrange your return back to the present. 😉

People are always asking about the renovations, the original features, and what’s been updated here at The Relic - so we put together a short video to show just a glimpse of the journey.

This building first started in November of 1854 and opened it’s doors in 1859 as a bustling commercial space - home to a general store and banking office on the first floor, with upper levels serving as living quarters and professional offices. From the very start, it was designed to adapt and serve the community.

The third floor was home to the Masonic Hall Lodge, remaining in continuous use until November 2020 - an incredible 166 years with the same organization and a truly rare piece of local history.

This video highlights some of the renovations and care that have gone into preserving the character of the building while thoughtfully preparing it for its next chapter. We’re proud of where it’s been and excited about what’s ahead!d
