💦5 Ways to Conserve Water! 💦

There are common tips and tricks to using less water, like turning off indoor and outdoor faucets when not in use, taking shorter showers, only running water appliances when there’s a full load, and fixing pesky leaks.
But what happens when you run out of ideas? Below are 5 quick tips to help you hit your water conservation goal this year:
1. Let the mud dry and sweep dirt off outdoor surfaces instead of using the hose to clean.
2. Install a rain barrel to collect roof runoff for watering your plants and lawn.
3. To collect runoff from your driveway, roof, and other hard surfaces, plant a rain garden.
4. Leave lawn clippings on your grass. This cools the ground and holds in moisture.
5. Don’t throw dropped or leftover ice in the sink. Instead, put it in a house plant.

*BONUS TIP*: 🌱Plant NATIVE species to your region! Not only will their root systems soak up excess water, but they’re nature's pollution filters, and native pollinating species will thank you!
Comment below with your tips and tricks on conserving water!💧

This beautiful surprise is a Cecropia moth, the largest moth in North America, with a wingspan reaching up to 7 inches!

These incredible moths only live for about a week as adults, dedicating their short lifespan entirely to reproduction. Because they are nocturnal, sightings like this are especially rare and exciting.

This handsome fellow was found (by our intern) making its home among our young willow propagation. Cecropia moth caterpillars also rely on native tree species like birch, cherry, and maple as host plants. Our pollinator garden and live-stake plantings make an incredible home for many of our native pollinators! 🐝🐛🦋
