WEDNESDAY UPDATE:
🚩🔥 The US National Weather Service Grand Junction Colorado has issued an additional Red Flag Warning for Wednesday this week from 10am to 10pm with southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph. A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for Thursday. This Fire Weather Watch for gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels is in effect from Thursday morning through Thursday evening.

‼️🔥These conditions create an elevated risk for rapid wildfire growth and spread. Please use extreme caution with any activity that could spark a fire and help us keep our community safe.

MONDAY AND TUESDAY UPDATE:

🚩🔥The US National Weather Service Grand Junction Colorado has issued additional Red Flag Warnings for Monday and Tuesday from 10am to 10pm with southwest winds of 20 to 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.

⚠️A Fire Weather Watch has also been issued for Wednesday.

🚩A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are occurring. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures are forecast to occur.

🔥These conditions create an elevated risk for rapid wildfire growth and spread. Please use extreme caution with any activity that could spark a fire and help us keep our community safe.

🚒 Firefighter Friday 🚒

Rounding out our new-hires, we would like to introduce Firefighter/Paramedic, Dominique Johnson. He has worked the past several years with both Palisade Fire and Lower Valley Fire Departments.

When he isn't at work, Dominique enjoys a variety of competitive and outdoor activities including softball, sand volleyball, golf and fishing. We're excited to have him joining the team!

🚩🔥Red Flag Warning in effect again today

Strong southerly winds and very low humidity will continue to bring critical fire weather conditions to portions of Utah and Colorado near the State line. Otherwise afternoon shower and thunderstorm activity is expected with these high based storms bringing an additional threat of outflow winds in excess of 50 mph. Cooler weather arrives for Saturday.

🚒 Firefighter Friday 🚒

Next in our new-hire spotlight is Firefighter/EMT, Amelia Pickard. Amelia's previous experience includes time spent with Grand Junction Fire and the BLM.

When asked what she enjoys doing off-duty, she casually mentioned running.. However, fun-fact she doesn't just "run" she actually does distance running like ultra-marathons, her favorite being the Arches 50K!

🧑‍🚒 Firefighter Friday 🧑‍🚒

Today we would like to formally introduce Tom Fedel, one of our newest Firefighter/EMTs! Tom comes to us after spending 5 years with the Ouray Volunteer Fire Department.

Growing up in Ouray helped to shape his love for the outdoors, especially mountain biking, dirt biking, and fly fishing. We're delighted in welcoming Tom and his family to MFPD!
