As we get ready to celebrate the 4th of July, the Monument Police Department would like to remind everyone that, under Ordinance 9.08.050, fireworks are prohibited within the Town of Monument. This includes consumer or "permissible" fireworks such as sparklers, fountains, firecrackers, and other novelty fireworks.

Officers may seize and destroy fireworks used or possessed in violation of the ordinance, and violations may result in fines of up to $500 per offense.

Before celebrating, we also encourage residents to check for any current fire restrictions issued by the EPC Sheriff's Office, as conditions can change throughout the summer. Current fire information and restrictions can be found here: https://epcsheriffsoffice.com/services/fire-information/

There are plenty of safe ways to celebrate our nation's birthday. Consider attending a professional fireworks display, like in Palmer Lake Colorado, and enjoy the holiday with family and friends. Thank you for helping keep our community safe, protect our open spaces, and ensure everyone has a fun and memorable Independence Day.

Stage I restrictions are designed to reduce the likelihood of human-caused fires while still allowing for certain recreational and residential activities under strict safety guidelines.

Join us for the 2nd Annual Cops & Bobbers Fishing Event at Monument Lake!

This free community event gives kids 13 and under the opportunity to fish alongside local law enforcement officers while learning fishing skills, enjoying great food, and making lasting memories.

We’re excited to welcome:
🎣 Fishing experts from Scheels who will be on-site to share tips, techniques, and help young anglers improve their skills.
🐟 Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff providing fishing education, resources, and expertise.
⭐ EPC Sheriff's Office deputies joining us for a fun morning of community connection and fishing.

Today, we pause to honor the law enforcement officers across the Pikes Peak region who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The Monument Police Department was honored to attend the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony hosted by Sheriff Roybal and the EPC Sheriff's Office.

We stand alongside our law enforcement partners, families, and community members in remembering the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting others. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

We extend our sincere appreciation for the keynote speech given by Rachel Swasey Lynch, widow of Garrett Swasey, who fell in the line of duty during the 2015 Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs. Her words served as a powerful reminder of the enduring impact these sacrifices have on families, agencies, and communities.

The Monument Police Department invites you to our 2nd annual Cops and Bobbers event!

This is a fantastic opportunity for kids to spend a morning on the water, learn some fishing tips, and get to know the officers serving our community.

The Monument Police Department expresses heartfelt appreciation in memory of Councilman Jim Romanello for his consistent support and friendship to both the community and our department. A bench dedicated in his honor is located in the Water Wise Garden near 3rd Street. We express our gratitude to the family, and attendees today.
