Today, we pause to honor the law enforcement officers across the Pikes Peak region who gave their lives in the line of duty.

The Monument Police Department was honored to attend the Pikes Peak Regional Law Enforcement Memorial Ceremony hosted by Sheriff Roybal and the EPC Sheriff's Office.

We stand alongside our law enforcement partners, families, and community members in remembering the courage, sacrifice, and service of those who made the ultimate sacrifice protecting others. Their legacy will never be forgotten.

We extend our sincere appreciation for the keynote speech given by Rachel Swasey Lynch, widow of Garrett Swasey, who fell in the line of duty during the 2015 Planned Parenthood shooting in Colorado Springs. Her words served as a powerful reminder of the enduring impact these sacrifices have on families, agencies, and communities.

Please join us in taking a moment to honor the fallen.

The ethical and transparent use of license plate readers on public roads and local businesses helps your department keep missing kids, missing vulnerable persons, and catching wanted criminals just like this! Thanks to Monument for its continued commitment to public safety!

Real-world investigations often cross city and state lines — and sharing information quickly matters.

In this week’s investigation into a triple homicide in Utah, law enforcement agencies used license plate reader alerts to help locate a stolen vehicle and coordinate across jurisdictions, leading to a suspect’s arrest in Pagosa Springs.

“This case shows how important it is for agencies to be able to share information quickly when violent crimes occur,” said Durango Police Chief and CACP board member Brice Current. “Technology like license plate readers gives investigators critical leads that can help locate dangerous suspects and protect communities.”

🎉 Chief Regan and members of the Monument Police Department want to congratulate Officer Elmshaeuser on graduating from the Colorado Springs Police Department Academy! Officer Elmshaeuser's journey with Monument PD is one to be proud of. He started with us as an Explorer Cadet, worked his way up to Police Services Aid, and has now earned his place as a Police Officer. And if that wasn't enough, he also received the award for the highest GPA in both academics and skills during his academy class! This milestone has been a long time coming, and we couldn't be more proud! A huge thank you to CSPD for their hospitality and outstanding training. The best is yet to come, Ethan! 👮
