Sunday Afternoon storm update
As we move though Day 2 of this multi-day storm event, we want to remind residents that while conditions have now improved, the storm did not truly begin to subside until late this morning which impacted clearing and restoration efforts across the town.
As anticipated, the strong wind gusts overnight created numerous new trouble spots throughout town, including additional tree damage, downed wires, blocked roadways, and addiitonal power outages. Crews have been working continuously to address these issues as quickly and safely as possible.
Eversource currently has 10 crews in town working to clear roads and restore power. We anticipate that all blocked roads throughout town will be cleared this evening. Since the start of the storm, Eversource has restored power to over 1770 customers in East Haddam and continues to work on restoring the remaining 209 without power, as quickly as possible.
We ask you to remain patient and continue to exercise caution:
• Stay clear of downed wires and treat all wires as if they are live.
• Avoid unnecessary travel in areas where debris remains on roadways.
• Use generators safely and only outdoors, away from all windows and doors
• Be prepared for the possibility of extended restoration times in some locations
Please ensure you continue to report all outages to Eversource at 800-246-2000. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergency public safety concerns or to report downed trees and wires please call the Emergency Management storm line at 860-891-8308.
Thank you for your continued patience and cooperation. Stay safe and Good Night.
