Lions Clubs International began in June 1917, when a young Chicago Insurance agent, Melvin Jones, presented to a group of separate business clubs the idea of consolidating the individual clubs into one strong influential club with the goal of helping the community and serving humanity. Lions are more than 1.3 million strong-men and women-young and old. Lions Clubs are located in 210 countries and

geographical areas from the hinterlands of Australia and Brazil to thriving urban centers like New York City and Milan to towns like Moody, Alabama. Moody Lions Club was chartered on March 27, 1999 with 40 members and was sponsored by the Pell City Lions Club. Since our club was chartered the Moody Lions Club has raised approximately $103,000.00 to be used for our service projects and charitable donations. In addition to this, our club was instrumental in securing a grant from Lions Club International Foundation for $75,000.00, which was presented to the Moody Miracle League. Moody Miracle League is a baseball field that was built for the use of children that live with physical or mental challenges.
