Pleasant weather expected through Labor Day. A brief warmup starts Tuesday and peaks Wednesday. A cold front then returns shower and thunderstorm chances Wednesday night into Thursday, followed by a drop back to seasonable temperatures and drier weather.

Scattered showers and thunderstorms remain possible this afternoon to the south of I-80. After today, the rest of Labor Day weekend is looking good, with plenty of sun and seasonable temperatures. Enjoy, and be safe!

An area of rain with embedded thunderstorms is tracking across eastern Ohio, with most of the heavier activity tracking to the southeast. Stronger storms will contain torrential downpours and wind gusts of 40-45 MPH. Localized swollen creeks and ponding on roads may also occur due to the heavy rain.

Both our Severe Thunderstorm and Flood Watches have been let go across the region. Our convective environment has been on a downward trend this afternoon and the focus of storms has shifted into western Ohio. We still have the chance to see one more round of storms overnight favoring eastern Ohio and then we look forward to a drier weekend, especially on Sunday.

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for our southern most counties in West Virginia and Ohio until 9 PM tonight.

We are beginning to see storms begin again across the region. Right now the area of most concern lies largely south of I-70. The primary threats remain damaging wind gusts and large hail but a tornado cannot be ruled out.
