🚗☀️ Never leave children, elderly adults, individuals with disabilities, or pets unattended in a parked vehicle — not even for a few minutes.

Temperatures inside a vehicle can rise rapidly to dangerous and life-threatening levels, even when the windows are cracked open. Studies show that slightly opening windows does not significantly reduce the rate of heating inside a car.

Children are especially vulnerable because their bodies do not regulate temperature as efficiently as adults.

Help keep our community safe this summer: Look before you lock, and never leave anyone behind in a vehicle. 👀

🚫🔥 BURN BAN IN EFFECT 🔥🚫

The Glades County Board of County Commissioners has implemented a countywide burn ban effective May 26, 2026, due to dry conditions and increased wildfire risk.

All outdoor burning is prohibited until further notice. This includes:
• Yard debris burning
• Campfires
• Bonfires
• Any unauthorized outdoor open burning

The burn ban is necessary to help protect the safety of our residents, firefighters, property, and natural resources.

We ask all residents and visitors to remain vigilant and avoid activities that could spark a fire.

Updates will be provided as conditions change.
