Mooresville Graded School District

Mooresville Graded School District A public school district serving children in grades preK through 12. However, academic excellence is not the only area MGSD excels in.

The Mooresville Graded School District is located in the town of Mooresville approximately 30 miles north of Charlotte in the Southern Piedmont region of North Carolina. A district of approximately 6000 students, MGSD consists of three elementary schools, two intermediate schools, two middle schools, and one high school which includes an advanced technology and arts center. MGSD has gained nationa

l recognition for its high academic standards and dedication to every child, every day. As a district it provides every child with a MacBook (grades 3-12) for their use both at home and at school or an iPad (K-2) for their use at school. Due to great students, staff, and community, MGSD is consistently a contender for the top spot in the state when it comes to academic excellence. Our athletic teams are top notch and competitive each and every year. Our school leadership and staff understand that part of a successful education must include work outside of the classroom. Therefore, it is not uncommon for our students to be holding food drives, coat drives, and volunteering for local organizations. It is each of these aspects that make our district so excellent and able to reach every child, every day!

The Mooresville Graded School District is proud to announce exceptional results from the latest North Carolina state accountability reporting, highlighting top-ranking academic performance, outstanding student growth, and unmatched graduation success.

MGSD continues to stand out as an educational leader in both the region and the state. Notably, MGSD is one of only three school districts in all of North Carolina where every single school met state growth targets and zero schools were identified as low-performing.

District schools swept the top rankings for student growth in mathematics across Iredell County:

๐Ÿ”น Mooresville Middle School (MMS) earned the #1 spot for math growth in Iredell County.
๐Ÿ”น Selma Burke Middle School (SBMS) secured #2 in the county for math growth.
๐Ÿ”น East Mooresville Intermediate School (EMIS) holds the #1 spot among all elementary/intermediate schools in the county for math growth.

Statewide Excellence in Math, Multilingual Progress, and Graduation Rates
In addition to strong regional growth, MGSD achieved remarkable statewide academic milestones when compared to the 115 school districts in North Carolina:

๐Ÿ”น Top 5 Statewide Achievement: MGSD students ranked in the top 5 across North Carolina for achievement in Math 4 and Math 8.
๐Ÿ”น #1 Graduation Rate: MGSD achieved the #1 four-year cohort graduation rate in the state of North Carolina, reinforcing the district's commitment to ensuring every student graduates prepared for post-secondary education, military enlistment, or careers.
๐Ÿ”น #7 in Multilingual Learner (ML) Progress: Demonstrating deep commitment to student equity and growth, MGSD ranked #7 statewide for annual progress among Multilingual Learners.

"These results reflect the dedication, passion, and hard work of our educators, students, and families," said Dr. Jason Gardner, Superintendent of Mooresville Graded School District. "To have every single one of our schools meet state growth standards, while eliminating any low-performing designations, speaks to the strength of our instructional focus. We are immensely proud of our students' achievements in mathematics, our multilingual programs, and our status as the top-ranking district in North Carolina for graduation rates."

MGSD will build on this momentum in the upcoming school year by continuing to refine targeted interventions, expanding enrichment opportunities, and supporting the district's overarching mission to be a learning community that provides a supportive environment where everyone can reach their full potential.

MGSD believes the arts are important to developing the whole child. We are fortunate to have a strong arts program for our entire community to enjoy! If you want to experience a bit of the talent of our fantastic students, come to the MHS variety show on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-8pm. The theme this fall is "Night at the movies" and there are different acts each night. Both should be great shows! Tickets are $5 and are available online or in person. https://mooresvilleperformingarts.ludus.com/splash.php.

Wait... Is that hall of fame quarterback Peyton Manning at our MGSD Picnic in the Park?!? Nope! It's superintendent Dr. Gardner! For him, connecting directly with our kids is the best part of the job โ€” no desk required! ๐Ÿ’™
