The Viking Connection is run by the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, MN (www.hcscconline.org). The goals of the Viking Connection are to bring in master artists of Viking Age crafts to tour in the Midwest, offering courses, presentations, and any other activities which will educate and promote the longevity of traditional Old Norse arts. We also provide annual apprenticeship opportu

nities for students to go abroad and learn from masters in Scandinavia. Lastly, we offer a database of artists specializing in one or more crafts documented to Viking Age Scandinavia. Visiting artists may travel beyond the region, but financial support is only available within the region. Apprentice applicants must also have a permanent residence in the 5 1/2 state region.
