King Harald V of Norway has died in Oslo, Norway today. He and Queen Sonja visited Concordia College during their American Tour in 1995. This article about the event from the campus student newspaper, The Concordian, writes that the royal couple received a "a warm Concordia welcome." His Majesty described the deep rooted connection between the Fargo-Moorhead area and Norway as the place where Norwegian immigrants "found their hopes fulfilled."

The library has updated hours this week! We're so excited to see Cobbers back on campus.

Beginning Monday, August 24 through Friday, August 28, the library is open 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The library will be closed on Saturday, Sunday 29.

Regular academic hours begin this coming Sunday, August 30. Regular academic year hours are the following:
▪ Sunday: Open from Noon (12:00 p.m.) to 11:00 p.m. (Fob access only)
▪ Monday through Thursday: Open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Fob access only after 4:30 p.m.)
▪ Friday: Open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
▪ Saturday: Closed

📣Excited to announce that the book “The Birth of Loud” by Ian S. Port has been selected as the title for the 2026 One Book, One Community reading project. The project is organized through a collaborative partnership of the Fargo, Moorhead and West Fargo public libraries, the Carl B. Ylvisaker Library, the MSUM Library, NDSU Libraries, the Historical and Cultural Society of Clay County, and the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra.

• Copies of the book are available for checkout in several formats at each of the participating libraries.
• A list of related events and resources will be available at each participating library and online starting August 1.
• An author presentation by Ian S. Port will be held Thursday, Oct. 22, at Weld Hall on the campus of MSUM.
• This project is made possible in part with support from Minnesota State University Moorhead, Concordia Cultural Events, Friends of the Fargo Public Library, Friends of the West Fargo Public Library, Friends of the Moorhead Library, and Moorhead Community Education.

Access and Reference Services Associate

Job Description:
The Access & Reference Services Associate provides access services and reference desk support and staffing, supervises student employees, and serves as the lead staff member during evening and weekend hours. This position is responsible for providing basic reference services and making referrals to librarians. As a student supervisor, this role is responsible for hiring, initial and ongoing training, and scheduling of student employees. This position provides essential support functions for outreach and engagement services as well as collection management.

To accomplish this work, this position requires the ability to function within multiple complex systems and understand how manipulation of these systems will impact other operations; and continuing self-directed learning to adapt to changing systems and new technologies. Essential skills for this position include problem solving, the ability to work independently, and excellent communication skills.
