Our first (mini) harvest day! Thank you Boys Team Charity and National Charity League for helping us on the Magdaleno Community Farm. Each week we make a little progress. And today we tended our growing vegetable… and left with our first—though small—harvest of basil! Our Farm Coordinator Shalini Karra taught us the importance of pruning and deadheading young plants to encourage growth. And we also learned to use post pounders which was so fun! 🌱🌳

🌱 Big news from the garden! Today, we officially planted our very first vegetables at Ruben Castro Charities! We are so excited to watch this garden grow and eventually share this fresh produce with our community. Here is a look at what we got in the ground today: 🍅 Tomatoes & Tomatillos
🌶️ Peppers
🌿 Basil, Cilantro, & Chives
🥒 Cucumber & Squash
🔴 Radishes
🌼 Marigolds (the ultimate garden protectors!) Growing fresh food is just one of the ways we are working to nourish our community from the ground up. Stay tuned for growth updates!
