This week, members of our AMR team traveled to Northern California to attend the California EMS Awards, where our own Dave Conahey was formally recognized as the 2025 Critical Care Transport (CCT) Provider of the Year.

This prestigious honor reflects Dave’s unwavering commitment to patient care, clinical excellence and the compassion he brings to every call. His dedication has made a lasting impact on countless patients, families and colleagues throughout his career.

We were especially honored to celebrate alongside Dave’s wife, Danielle, whose support has been an important part of his journey.

The California EMS Awards recognize the extraordinary individuals who strengthen California’s EMS system every day through leadership, service, courage and compassion. We couldn't think of a more deserving recipient.

Please join us in congratulating Dave on this well-earned recognition. We are proud to have him represent AMR and the EMS profession.

With a little help from some of our supervisors, we're using 3D printing technology to improve conditions for our AMR and Gold Coast Ambulance crews — which also leads to better patient care!

Huge thanks to Cronies who assisted us in feeding our crews with breakfast Burritos on Wednesday and Friday and with Tri Tip sandwiches on Tuesday and Thursday last week to celebrate National EMS Week.

Kitchen Manager Sebastian really stepped up and helped get things ready so it was a smooth process for us each day. Cronies greatly discounted the price to help us treats folks throughout the week. Thanks to the team at Cronies, who are pictured with AMR Supervisors Garrett Brock and Chris Crosby!

We had a great time participating in the 16th Annual Channel Islands Harbor Safe Boating Expo on May 16.

The mission of the Safe Boating Expo - to educate and empower the public on boating safety and marine stewardship - has never been more important. Each year, this event brings together families, recreational boaters, and first-time visitors eager to learn how to enjoy our waterways safely and responsibly. The event included valuable educational resources, safety demonstrations, and hands-on experiences that directly contribute to saving lives and protecting our coastal environment.

This event is a great demonstration of the collaborative partnerships between all participating agencies, organizations and exhibitors that strengthen the impact of our shared message and demonstrated a collective commitment to safe, informed and enjoyable boating for all!

Strong relationships and partnerships are the core of an EMS system that operates effectively and efficiently — and that’s what this year’s National EMS Week theme, "Improving Outcomes, Together” is all about.

While we invest in the training and the technology and the fine folks who are part of our AMR and Gold Coast Ambulance teams — we know that our ability to respond and provide the critical care you deserve when you need it most, is also the result of a collaborative first response network. And it doesn’t just stop there. To do the work we do, we invest in our community in a number of different ways through a variety of partnerships. We show up and provide demonstrations at schools and clubs. We provide standby services. We give back to our local nonprofits. We believe we are stronger together.

A few of the partnerships we’re proud to have engaged in over the last year include:

>Oxnard Fire Department EMS Corps: We were proud to support this program by providing multiple EMS ride-outs to EMTs

>Los Robles Fellowship: We partnered with Los Robles to provide ride-along exposure as part of the education for physicians specializing in emergency care

>DOT Program: We partner with Ventura County Public Health to provide Direct Observed Therapy (DOT) for the County’s tuberculosis patients

>VCMC & REACH Medical Services: We are in discussions for an air partner to support the county with emergency air transport services

>VCFC (Ventura County Football Club): We provide free standby services for this professional soccer team whose local games are held at CLU

These are just a few of the many ways we connect with our community to provide a variety of support and services, all built through partnerships. We are proud to be part of a county that values the strength in working together, and we're proud to call Ventura County home.

This week, as we celebrate National EMS Week, we'll be highlighting the partnerships we're proud to be a part of here in Ventura County, in honor of this year's theme: “Improving Outcomes, Together." But first, we wanted to take a moment to share a little bit about why we do, what we do. We're honored to call Ventura County home. We are honored to create meaningful relationships with first responders and organizations countywide to support our community in critical moments.

2025 was another record breaking CCT year for our division and it couldn't have been done without all those who comprise our Critical Care Team! Your dedication to our team and to our county's sickest patients is second to none and we are immensely grateful for the compassionate care you each provide.

We're a day late — but let us please take a moment to recognize CCT Nurses in honor Critical Care Transport Nurses Day.
