🚨 TRAFFIC ADVISORY 🚨

The Moosic Borough Police Department would like to advise motorists that heavy traffic is expected today due to the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders game, increased activity at Cinemark, and the Billy Idol concert at The Pavilion at Montage Mountain.

If you are traveling in or around the Montage Mountain area, please plan ahead and expect delays.

To help keep traffic moving safely and efficiently:
🚗 Please arrive early.
🚔 Follow the directions of police officers and all posted traffic patterns.
⚠️ Be patient, drive cautiously, and watch for increased pedestrian traffic throughout the area.

We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to ensure everyone can safely enjoy today’s events.

🚨 UPDATE: Main Street has been reopened to all traffic.

The roadway is now fully open, and normal traffic flow has resumed.

Thank you to everyone for your patience and cooperation while emergency crews worked safely at the scene.

🚨 COMMUNITY UPDATE 🚨

At approximately 8:00 p.m. this evening, the Moosic Borough Police Department received several 911 calls, along with additional calls to our station from residents throughout the area, reporting what was described as a large explosion.

Officers, along with personnel from Station 98 Fire Department and surrounding EMS agencies, conducted an extensive search of the borough but were unable to locate the source of the reported explosion.

We also confirmed with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport that there was no aircraft activity in the area that would have caused a sonic boom.

Additionally, we have not received any reports of property damage, fires, or power outages associated with the incident.

At this time, the cause of the reported explosion remains unfounded, and there is no known threat to the public.

The dog was found in the area of 801 E. Corey Street at approximately 2:30 p.m. today.

The Moosic Borough Police Department is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying the male pictured.

The individual was involved in an incident that occurred on June 28, 2026, at approximately 4:00 p.m. at Ace Hardware.

If you recognize this individual or have any information regarding his identity, please contact the Moosic Borough Police Department at 570-342-9111. Any information may be helpful to the investigation.

✅ TRAFFIC UPDATE – MAIN STREET & SPRING STREET OPEN

The Main Street and Spring Street railroad crossings have reopened and are now fully accessible to traffic.

The train has been cleared from the crossings, and normal traffic flow has resumed.

The Moosic Borough Police Department would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation while Norfolk Southern crews worked to safely resolve the situation.

As always, please continue to use caution when approaching railroad crossings and obey all railroad signals.

🚨 TRAVEL ADVISORY 🚨

The Moosic Borough Police Department would like to advise motorists that a Norfolk Southern train is currently stopped on the tracks and is blocking the Main Street and Spring Street railroad crossings.

The train struck a tree, and Norfolk Southern crews are currently inspecting the train for damage. At this time, there is no estimated time for when the crossings will reopen.

Please avoid the area if possible and use alternate routes until the train has been cleared and the crossings are reopened.
