The Moravia Police Department is saddened by the loss of Lt. Condzella of the Ithaca Police Department. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, and the members of the Ithaca Police Department during this difficult time. We honor his service and dedication to the community and extend our deepest condolences.

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Lieutenant Thomas Condzella, who died unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.

Lieutenant Condzella joined the Ithaca Police Department in 2015 as a Patrol Officer and was later promoted to Sergeant and then Lieutenant.

During his tenure with our department, Tom served on the Specialized Response Team, the Crash Reconstruction Team, the Recruitment Team, and as President of the Ithaca Police Benevolent Association.

Tom is survived by a wife and two young sons.

We are grateful for his dedicated service to the city of Ithaca and extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues.

We have a couple of new recruits at the moment. Both females, chocolate lab and pit bull. Super friendly. Owner(s) will be able to retrieve them from Country Acres in about an hour.

On Monday, January 19, the Village of Moravia Justice Center was proud to welcome local Girl Scouts for a behind-the-scenes tour of the building and a look at day-to-day operations within the justice system. As part of their visit, the Scouts also toured Moravia Police Department.

The Scouts were guided by an all-female staff, who shared their roles, experiences, and insights into public service—including Moravia Police Officer Martin, Court Clerk Jenn Matijas, Assistant District Attorney Casselman, and the Honorable Judge Hargett-Kemp. The visit offered a valuable opportunity to learn about careers in law enforcement and the legal field while seeing firsthand how the Justice Center serves the community.

We were honored to host such an enthusiastic group and hope the experience inspired future leaders.

The National Weather Service in Binghamton has issued a Winter Storm Warning beginning this afternoon and continuing through tomorrow morning. Please allow extra time if you will be commuting.
An early thank-you to all of our Village, Town, County, and State DPW highway workers who will be working hard to keep up with the snow as conditions worsen. Stay safe, everyone.

Our prayers go out to the entire Rochester Police Department and their families. Three of their officers were shot as they were responding to a violent domestic incident. There is never a routine call and anything can happen at anytime.
