Happy New Year. THANK YOU ALL so much for your generous support of the auxiliary fundraisers and events in 2025. Due to your support, we have been able to provide our area veterans with: 2 guitars for Vets4Guitars ($500), VESTAR program ($1950) Raised $950 for Cancer patients at VA hospital with the help of Groton American Legion, donated Sweats/shackets ($1375) for VA hospital inpatients, Christmas Gift Bags ($1900) for men and women at VA hospital, Baby Shower/Bottoms Up ($1350) for VA Women’s Health Center. $100 gift cards for 3 veterans at Northwood, 10 $50 gift cards for “Thank You for your Service Lottery Winners, $175 for 3 Wreaths placed at the corner stones in Moravia, Locke, and at Post, served 110 meals to veterans on Veteran’s Day, $300 postage to help United Methodist Church send Christmas stockings to area veterans stationed in US. $600 to assist 3 local Veterans with travel expenses due to health treatment. $2000 donation to the Ashley House for displaced women veterans, sent out 134 Christmas cards to Post 7127 members. Community donations for: $100 Moravia Hope Food Pantry, $500 Moravia Senior scholarship, $500 Moravia Backpack Program, $300 for Moravia Christmas Angel programs and participated in “Christmas in Moravia” with the Chamber of Commerce.

On October 25th, Auxiliary member Cindy Bennett, presented Kathryn Wilgus, Villagers for Veterans - Board of Director Member a check for $2,000 to be used toward the construction of Ashley’s House. The house is nearing completion and scheduled to open Q1 2026, to house homeless Women Veterans, on a transitional basis. October 26, 2025 -- At the invitation of Mary Corriveau, Chapter Coordinator and Jim Corriveau, Instructor of Guitars 4Vets, Watertown Chapter; Theresa Horn, Deb Porter, Anne Marie Palmer, MaryRuth Shields attended the graduation of 2 Veterans and presented this inspiring organization with a donation of $500. This donation will cover the purchase of two guitars, and it has been our auxiliary privilege to support this not-for-profit organization since 2017.

Guitars 4Vets is dedicated to providing relief to Veterans through the healing power of music and community. Veterans are provided with student guitars for home practice during the 10 weeks of free lessons along with a guitar, accessories and lesson book. Upon completion of the 10-week program, the student guitars are returned to the Chapter and graduating Veterans are presented a brand-new acoustic guitar, gig bag, strap, tuner strings, pics, music book and guitar stand. There were approximately 16 Veterans in attendance at this event.

On behalf of the VFW Auxiliary, we want to thank all our members and community for your generous donations of baked goods for our Cake Booth. Your creativity and generosity were greatly appreciated and contributed to the success of one of our major fund raisers to support our Veterans. A special THANK YOU to Terry Baxter for his time and use of his truck for the parade.
