The Sempronius Fire Department would like to announce that our New Sempronius TP-1 is now in service.
We would like thank the Fire Commissioners of the Three Town Fire District (Rick Jandrew, Eric Burhans, Mark Cuddeback, Don Slater, Kaleb Winters) Three Town Car 1 (Tyler Bloodgood) Sempronius Car 1 & 2 (Eric Jandrew & Kyle O’Connell) who were involved in the purchase and spec out phases of this truck process.
It’s a Fouts Fire Apparatus tanker sold to us from Bulldog Fire Apparatus in Albany. Freightliner M2 106 Plus Chassis with a 450hp Cummins paired with an Allison Automatic Transmission, 3,000 gallon poly tank with a 3,000 gallon single lane portable pond with a Darley PTO powered 1,000 gpm pump.
This will be a huge asset to our fire district along with the Summerhill Fire District that we cover with Locke & Moravia and also all of our mutual aid fire districts that we serve.

The Sempronius Fire Department is saddened to share the passing of long time Homer Fire Chief, retired City of Ithaca Lieutenant, and NY State Fire Instructor Mahlon Irish Jr.

Mahlon was instrumental in training thousands of firefighters over several decades in Tompkins, Cortland, Cayuga Counties, New York State, and beyond.

A respected expert in all aspects of firefighting, he fought a gallant battle against occupational derived cancer for many years.

RIP Mahlon we are all better firefighters thanks to you sharing your knowledge and commitment to the profession.

On behalf of the Sempronius Fire Department, we extend our heartfelt condolences to Chief Irish’s family, friends, fellow firefighters, students, and the countless firefighters whose lives he touched.
