Congratulations to Teacher Assistant Kathy Hunt, who will be retiring at the conclusion of this school year. Mrs. Hunt has dedicated nearly fifteen years to Wilkes County Schools, including three years at CWMS. Her passion for students shines through as she encourages them to pursue their dreams! In her retirement, Mrs. Hunt looks forward to traveling, nurturing her flowers, and enjoying some much-deserved sleep. She has truly been a blessing to our school community.

Central Wilkes Middle Summer Volleyball Workouts

Dragonfly and parent info sheet must be completed before the first day of workouts and must meet all CWMS athletic eligibility requirements.

Summer Volleyball Workouts are closed. They will be in the Main Gym at CWMS.

Workouts are not required to try out but are recommended for skill and conditioning. Join the Summer VB Workout Remind (Text:81010 )

August Dates and Tryout Dates will be released at a later date.

Things needed for VB Workouts: Basketball,Volleyball or an Athletic shoe, Athletic Clothing, Knee Pads, Water Bottle, Snack.

Career and Technical Education Teacher, Mark Horton, will be retiring at the end of this school year. It is sad for the Falcon family, but we are incredibly grateful for his thirty-four years of impeccable service to Wilkes County Schools! He has spent nineteen years at WCHS and fifteen years at CWMS, positively impacting our students, staff, and community. Mr. Horton has inspired countless young minds in Wilkes County, consistently exceeding expectations. He would like to extend a special shoutout to his lunch buddies from the past. While he will miss teaching his classes, he looks forward to dedicating time to personal projects. We celebrate Mr. Horton, a true Falcon star!

Wanda Mitchell, one of our amazing diverse education teacher assistants, will be retiring at the end of this school year. We are incredibly grateful for her seven years at CWMS and almost twenty-one years of dedicated service to Wilkes County Schools! One of her cherished memories at CWMS is chaperoning the fair and enjoying the merry-go-round with students. While Mrs. Mitchell will miss the students in her classroom, she feels thankful for the positive impact she has made. She is looking forward to having more quality time to spend with her family. We celebrate Mrs. Mitchell, a true Falcon star!

CWMS Announcements - Week of 06/01/2026

Good afternoon, Falcon Family. This is Ebenezer Lancerio, the proud principal of Central Wilkes Middle School, with announcements covering various school events.

Last Day of School Details - New

The last day of school is this Thursday, June 4th. Students will be dismissed at 1pm. Before leaving for the summer, students will receive their report cards for the year. We wish everyone a great week of school and a happy Summer ahead!

8th Grade Promotion 6/4 @ 8:30am

Our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony will be held on June 4th at 8:30am in the Central Wilkes Middle School Gymnasium. Doors will open at 7:45am. Please plan to park on the bus lot side of the building (2nd entrance to the school, not the stoplight entrance). Overflow parking will be available in the cafeteria parking lot to accommodate our morning carlines. Seats will fill up fast so be sure to arrive early. Students are expected to dress business casual for the event - if you have any questions or need support in this regard please reach out to one of our counselors or your child's homeroom teacher. We are looking forward to celebrating with all of you!

WCHS Athletic Summer Camps - New

Interested in playing sports at the high school level? WCHS has summer camps planned for this summer! Check out their website for more information.

S.O.A.R. / Robotics Summer Camp - New

From Mr. Weaver and Ms. Colglazier: We will be hosting the CWMS Robotics Camp between August 10-13, 2026 from 9am-2pm. The cost will be $65. Students are responsible for their own morning snack, lunch, and transportation to and from the camp. The camp is limited to 14 students, so register today! There are needs-based scholarships available.

Yearbook Update -New

Parents, Due to the majority of our yearbooks being damaged during shipping, our distribution days have been pushed back. The following will be the days and times for pre-purchased yearbook distribution. If there are extra books available for purchase after pre-purchased distribution, students on the waitlist will be contacted in first come, first served order. Please contact Mrs. Albertino at [email protected] before 6/2/2026 to get on the waitlist or if you have questions.

Thursday, June 2nd: Eighth grade yearbook distribution for 8th grade students who did not purchase a name stamp will be on Tuesday, June 2nd. Unfortunately, the box with name stamped yearbooks was one of the damaged boxes so we are unable to distribute yearbooks with namestamps until June 9th.

Tuesday, June 9th: Eighth grade students who purchased name stamped books and all seventh grade students who purchased books may pick up their yearbooks from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.

Wednesday, June 10th: All sixth grade students may pick up yearbooks from 8:30 to 11:30 AM.
