Webb Memorial Public Library The Earle W. Webb, Jr. Memorial Library and Civic Center was established in 1936 and continues to be a valuable community resource today. In 1929, Mr. Earle W.

Webb, Sr., began construction of a commercial building on the corner of 9th and Evan Streets in downtown Morehead City, NC. The first few years the building housed doctors' offices, a garment factory training facility, and a 300-book library belonging to the Morehead Woman's Club. In 1936 the Webbs' dedicated the building as the Earle W. Webb Jr. Memorial Library and Civic Center, in honor of thei

r son who died. In 2009, the Library and Civic Center celebrated its 75th year of service to the public.
