October 12 is Corbie Ellington Day in Kentucky. Here the story...

10/12/2026

🪖9th Annual Corbie Ellington Day 🇺🇲

Corbie Ellington day honors Corbie Ellington for making the ultimate sacrifice in the cause of freedom during World War I.

“From this day forward, Corbie Ellington will serve as a silent representative of his comrades-in-arms, and thus this day will also honor, annually, all WWI veterans, those lost their life in grueling battle and in the cause of freedom, and those, who were more fortunate, went through the rigors of war and were able to return home to us.” - Bill Bolen, President Rowan County Veterans Foundation
