Good afternoon,

I was questioned after the drawing this morning for position for City Council of Morehead and the City Commissioners of Lakeview as to why I didn’t have a drawing for all of the candidates that have to run in the November General Election.

In a General Election the Partisan Parties go on the ballot on how the last Presidential Race went in the state. Of course Kentucky went Republican. Therefore in all the contested races that are Partisan. The Republican will be number one one the ballot and the Democrat will be number two. See Statute below:

Today at 10am we will be drawing for the Morehead City Council & the City of Lakeview Heights Commissioner races only. You do not have to be present, but you’re more than welcome to join us. I will post the order afterwards.

So as we are closing out the Primary Election and heading towards the General. I just wanted to give a reminder:

June 2nd 2026 at 4pm is the deadline to file for School Board Districts 1 & 5.

Also for Soil and Water. And for any office for the City of Lakeview Heights.

August 24th is the deadline to file as a write-in candidate for Mayor or City Council by 4 pm.
