KENTUCKY FAMILIES LAUNCH PETITION DEMANDING OVERSIGHT AND ACCOUNTABILITY OF DCBS

Rowan County, KY — A growing coalition of Kentucky parents and advocates has launched a statewide petition calling for an independent investigation and legislative oversight of the Department for Community Based Services (DCBS).

The campaign—titled “Kentucky Families Demand Oversight and Accountability of DCBS”—seeks justice for families who allege systemic misconduct, constitutional violations, and improper child removals within the state’s child-welfare system.

BACKGROUND
Across Rowan County and surrounding regions, families have reported enduring:
• Children removed without valid court orders, in violation of KRS 620.060
• Prolonged or retaliatory investigations based on unsubstantiated allegations
• Altered or incomplete reports used to justify extended custody interference
• Emotional trauma to children caused by biased or inconsistent visitation plans

Families across Kentucky are uniting not out of anger, but out of hope—for fairness, transparency, and accountability.
The petition’s organizers emphasize that children deserve protection and their parents deserve due process.
