🌨️ Winter Storm Safety Tips
• Limit travel during severe weather. If you must drive, slow down, increase following distance, and keep an emergency kit in your vehicle.
• Dress in layers and limit time outdoors to prevent frostbite and hypothermia.
• Keep sidewalks, driveways, and fire hydrants clear of snow and ice.
• Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone with special medical needs.
• Ensure you have adequate food, water, medications, and flashlights in case of power outages.
🔥 Home Heating & Fire Safety
• Keep all space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn, including furniture, blankets, and curtains.
• Never leave space heaters, fireplaces, or candles unattended.
• Use only approved heating equipment and never use ovens, grills, or generators indoors.
• Make sure fireplaces and chimneys are clean and in good working condition before use.
• Install and test smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors on every level of your home.
• Never overload electrical outlets or extension cords.
⚠️ Carbon Monoxide Awareness
• Use generators outdoors only and at least 20 feet away from windows and doors.
• If your carbon monoxide alarm activates, move to fresh air immediately and call 911.
