We hope you can make the trip to Warren Public Library Vermont to learn more about an different perspective as we celebrate our country's 250th anniversary.

All are welcome to join us at the Warren Public Library at 6pm this Thursday, May 14 for a free talk. As the American colonies fought to free themselves from the British two hundred and fifty years ago, one fifth of that population — the enslaved African-American population — undertook their own struggle for liberty. Their stories of ingenuity and heroism speak to us, two and a half centuries later, of how precious the birthright of freedom really is, and how it’s worth fighting for. New York Times bestselling author M. T. Anderson, whose National Book Award-winning novel The Pox Party explored this history, will discuss some of the lost and overlooked stories of that revolution within the Revolution, and why they’re important to remember in this celebratory anniversary year. Part of the MRV Libraries’ 250th anniversary speaker series.

Facilitated by Death Doula Patty Latz, we invite community members to come and talk and listen to each other share anything they want about death and the many pieces of preparing for death. There is no set agenda. Many people have experienced a lifting of huge burden when they contemplate, discuss, and plan for the final journey. Light refreshments will be served.
