As a first responder we unfortunately meet people on their absolute worse day and sometimes during horrific and tragic events. So it is always great to hear that the long hours of training is useful and appreciated, When we recieve messages like the one in the photos, it make what we do worth it and keeps our drive going.

On Tuesday 6/9 Blvfd was dispatched for a tanker truck that had flipped and the driver was trapped with diesel fuel leak...

On Tuesday 6/9 Blvfd was dispatched for a tanker truck that had flipped and the driver was trapped with diesel fuel leaking. Due to limited man power responding from Gibson (unfortunate reality for Volunteer departments) Amelia Vfd was requested to respond to get help to the injured as quick has possible along with needed man power. Fortunately the injured driver was able to be pulled out the vehicle by nearby co-workers and treated by Acadian ambulance. The driver was transported to Gibson fire department to meet Acadian Air-Med to be flown to a trauma center. With the assistance of Amelia Volunteer Fire Department and Mr. Paul Leblanc Assumption Parish Police Jury & OEP, the diesel was able to be contained and kept away from the nearby crops. We want to thank Amelia VFD and Mr. Paul for their help along with help from the Assumption Parish Sheriff's Office and Acadian Ambulance.
