Morgan City Public Library The MC Library is dedicated to providing the highest quality services to meet informational, cultural, educational,recreational needs of the community.

The Morgan City Public Library began in 1934 as a Women's Club project. The club attained funding and space from the City of Morgan City. Donations were solicited from the citizens, and a library was opened in the one hundred block of Everett Street. on Thanksgiving afternoon of 1934. The library continued in this location until 1951 when a tax was passed to build the current facility. In 1973, as

an outgrowth of the Morgan City Public Library Local History Project, an annex was added to the library to house the Morgan City Archives, a repository of historical documents, photographs, periodicals, and microfilm unique to the history of the area. In 2001, the Archives relocated to the Leah Norman Schreiber Center and the library expanded into the annex. The area now houses additional public computers and the Louisiana genealogy collections. The library is one of the four municipal libraries in the state.

Hey parents, this one is for you!

We haven’t forgotten about the amazing grown-ups who make summer reading possible by bringing their kiddos to the library. To celebrate you, we’re hosting a Plant & Seed Swap from June 2 – July 23!

Stop by anytime Monday through Friday, between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM to join the fun.

How it works:

Bring a plant, take a plant!

Bring a seed packet, take a seed packet!

Kids are more than welcome to participate, too—the same rules apply. Come grow with us this summer! 🌱📚

Good morning, everyone! ☀️ If you haven’t seen our summer calendars yet, here are the schedules for June and July.

Just a quick reminder: all activities and performers start at 2:00 PM. Also, please note that all children must be accompanied by an adult at all times during these events. We can't wait to see you there!

We would absolutely love to see all of you there to celebrate and have some fun with us!

No worries at all! You can sign your kiddos up for the summer reading program right at the kickoff event. Plus, there is no deadline to sign up—as long as they can read the required number of books on the sheet, they are good to go!
