𝗧𝗥𝗢𝗣𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗟 𝗦𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗠 𝗖𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗧𝗔𝗟 𝗕𝗥𝗜𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗡𝗚

This morning, TD3 been upgraded to Tropical Storm . No major impacts are expected to our area other than a chance for heavy rainfall at times and some wind.

𝙏𝙞𝙢𝙞𝙣𝙜: Chantal is expected to make landfall in South Carolina -south of Myrtle Beach early Sunday morning with the storm slowly moving North North East through North Carolina. Rain bands are forecasted to move into our area around 7am Sunday with the rain off and on lasting through Monday evening.

𝙍𝙖𝙞𝙣: A total of 1-2 inches of rain is expected with higher amounts possible in some areas. This depends on the track of the storm and speed.

𝙒𝙞𝙣𝙙: 10-15mph winds with gusts up to 40mph possible

𝙎𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙢𝙨: A slight chance exists for a few thunderstorms. A chance of tornado activity also exists with any tropical storm

An additional briefing will be provided tomorrow unless major changes to the forecast occur today.

The Family, Fun, Fireworks celebration kicks off Friday, July 4th at 4:00 PM with fireworks scheduled for 9:15 PM at Waterfront Park. Please be advised of the following closures and restrictions in place to ensure public safety:

🚫 NO PARKING will be permitted on July 4th at:

Waterfront Park
Coast Guard Park
Charles Creek Park
Museum of the Albemarle
and a small portion of College Park.

🚷 PEDESTRIAN & BOAT SAFETY ZONES

A designated Water Safety Zone will be enforced from 6:00 PM to approximately 10:00 PM.
➤ No boats or pedestrians are allowed in this zone during that time.

Pedestrian access will be prohibited across the Charles Creek Bridge during the event.

🛑 ROAD CLOSURES (marked in green on map)

Roads surrounding the event area will close at 2:00 PM and remain closed until after the fireworks display concludes and all vendors are cleared.

Join us for an evening of celebration at the Family, Fun, Fireworks event on Friday, July 4th at Mariners Wharf Park and along Water St! The event kicks off at 4pm with fireworks scheduled for 915pm.

Please note the following important safety and traffic details:

🔴 𝗪𝗔𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗦𝗔𝗙𝗘𝗧𝗬 𝗭𝗢𝗡𝗘 (shown in red on map):
A designated Water Safety Zone will be in effect from 6:00 PM to approximately 10:00 PM. No watercraft will be permitted within this area during this time.

🟡 𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗠𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗗 𝗗𝗢𝗖𝗞𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗭𝗢𝗡𝗘 (shown in yellow on map):
Boaters may dock at Mariners Wharf Park prior to 6pm but must remain docked until the safety zone is lifted at approximately 10pm.

Nearby roads will close at 2pm for the safety of attendees and will remain closed until after the event.

As we celebrate the holiday season, please remember to follow local fireworks laws and safety guidelines:

✔️ Legal Fireworks:

Caps
Glow worms
Smoke devices
Party or string poppers
Snappers or poppers
Sparklers

These are the only fireworks permitted within county and city limits.

❌ Illegal Fireworks:

-Any that explode, are self-propelled, or spin on the ground
This includes bottle rockets, firecrackers, and aerial fireworks

For everyone’s safety, leave large displays to the professionals.

🔥 Safe Disposal Tips:
Never place used fireworks in trash cans or dumpsters while still hot. Fireworks that look “out” may still contain embers capable of starting fires.

✅ Let fireworks cool completely, ideally by soaking them in water, before throwing them away.

It is with great sorrow that we learned of the passing of former member Lendon "Wayne" Lampley, who joined the Pasquotank-Newland Fire Department in 2016 and served as a firefighter and engineer. In 2023, Wayne relocated with his wife, but his affection for the fire department remained unwavering. You will be deeply missed, brother. We have it from here. Rest easy.

* At 635 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 7 miles southwest of Chesapeake, or 10 miles south of
Deep Creek, moving east at 15 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
