🐾 Meet Fern — the little fighter who refused to give up. 💕

Fern is just 8 months old, but she has already overcome something that could have changed the course of her entire life.

Fern was hit by a car and left injured in the road. Thankfully, a Good Samaritan found her and rushed her to an emergency veterinarian. Radiographs revealed a fractured lumbar vertebra, and Fern was unable to use her back legs.

The prognosis was guarded to poor. There was no guarantee Fern would ever walk again.

But her Good Samaritan refused to give up on her. They took Fern home and committed to the intensive care she needed, giving this little girl the time, love, and support she needed to heal.

And then… Fern started surprising everyone. ❤️

After about a week, they noticed the tiniest movements in her legs. It may have seemed like something small, but it was a huge sign of hope.

At 10 days post-accident, Fern was walking. 🥹🐾

Now, at just 12 days, she is doing remarkably well. She is still learning how to properly use her left rear leg — the leg that suffered the most nerve damage — but she is making progress every day.

Fern essentially had to learn how to walk all over again.

And she did.

A fractured vertebra is an uncommon and serious traumatic injury in dogs, and unfortunately, it can carry a guarded to poor prognosis. But Fern has defied the odds. She has overcome pain, uncertainty, neurological damage, and a tremendous physical challenge — all before she has even reached her first birthday.

❤️ Now Fern needs her next chapter.

Fern is ready to move into a new home or medical foster home where she can safely complete her recovery.

Her Good Samaritan has done an incredible job getting Fern to this point, but their home is located close to a road. Now that Fern is mobile again, there is a very real concern that this determined little girl could make her way back toward the road — the very place where her journey began.

We don't want Fern's incredible second chance to come full circle in the wrong way.

Fern needs a safe, secure environment where she can continue strengthening her legs, improving her mobility, and learning to confidently navigate the world on four feet. 🐾

She may have a little more recovery ahead of her, but Fern has already shown us exactly who she is:

Brave. Determined. Resilient. And absolutely unwilling to give up. 💗

Now she needs someone who won't give up on her either.

If you’re looking for a fun-loving, playful pup who is ready to be your sidekick for all of life’s adventures… Ariel is your girl! 🐶💕

Ariel is a 1-year-old Terrier/Poodle mix with a whole lot of personality packed into one adorable little package!

🐕 LOVES other dogs and has been absolutely wonderful in play groups! She would especially love a canine companion around her size.
