Hartland Road was shut down temporarily after this single car MVC around the intersection of Bristol Creek Rd. There was severe damage to the vehicle and the driver was transported by Burke County Emergency Services & Emergency Management. The scene was turned over to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol for investigation.

Members from Chesterfield Fire Rescue, along with Drowning Creek Vol Fire Department, Longtown VFD, and Gamewell Fire Dept were among those who attended the Fireground Ops 9 class hosted by WPCC Regional Fire & Rescue Training this evening. Tonight's rotation was on car fires and hose advancement in a structure. Special thanks to the Chesterfield Fire and Rescue Auxiliary for providing sandwiches đŸ¥ª and water for those working in the heat on this humid evening.

Attention all members: This is a reminder of the training this week.
- Fireground Ops 9 starts at the ETSC on Coal Shute Road Monday and Thursday this week at 6 pm.
- On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week at our station we will be finishing up Fire Life Safety Education Class at 5 pm each night.

If you want to attend Ops 9, I need to sign your Live Fire Certificate. Please let me know you are attending. This is the top class in the Firefighter series and you must have the previous Ops classes to attend. You must attend all the classes for Ops 9, not just the live burn classes.

NOW HIRING: Part‑Time Firefighters – Join Chesterfield Fire Rescue

Chesterfield Fire Rescue is looking for motivated, certified firefighters to join our team on a part‑time basis. If you’re passionate about service and ready to make a difference in the Chesterfield Community, we want to hear from you.

Pay Rates
• Firefighter: $18/hr
• Firefighter/EMR: $19/hr
• Firefighter/EMT (preferred): $20/hr

We’re seeking certified firefighters, and preference will be given to applicants who hold an EMT certification.

*** For Immediate Release***
Chesterfield Fire Rescue, along with the NC OSFM are proud to announce the award of a 2026 North Carolina Volunteer Fire Grant Fund grant. This Grant is a 50/50 award, and the state will provide $38,780.75 towards the purchase of new equipment, which Chesterfield Fire Rescue must match. Our grant funds will be used to purchase new nozzles, 2 new SCBA Airpack's, 25 lengths of new LDH supply hose, a new turnout gear washer, a Turnout Gear dryer, and more.

We are extremely thankful for the support of NC State Fire Marshal Brian Taylor and all of the State Office of the Fire Marshal's staff, as without these grants the cost of this equipment might be impossible to afford for a small volunteer department.

We are also grateful to the continued support of the Burke County Commissioners and the Burke County Government. But most of all, we are grateful for the support we have received from our Chesterfield Community. Without your support, we could not keep the doors open. Important growth and changes are coming soon to our department, and this equipment is an important part of that.

We encourage any community members interested in helping the fire department as a volunteer, an auxiliary member, or even an advisory role to join us any Tuesday evening at 7 pm to learn more.

Updates for 5/12/26:
1. There is in-house training tonight at 7 pm. All members are urged to attend. We have had poor turnout recently to any training and need to improve this. Please attend training or notify a Chief officer that you are unable.
2. TRAINING: WPCC will be hosting the Fireground Ops 9 course starting in May to complete our firefighter certification courses. You must attend all class sessions in order to be able to test for certification. To attend you must:
a. Be 18 years or older.
b. High School Academy Students Must Have Completed all FF Certification Courses up to Ops. 8.
c. Present the NCFRC Live Fire Validation Form Signed by a Chief officer on the First Day of Class.
d. Bring a SCBA & Spare Cylinder
e. Have NFPA Compliant Turnout Gear
3. EVENT: The Fire Auxiliary is hosting a Family Pot Luck for the Department on Saturday, June 13 at the station. While more details will be coming, please plan to join us for some fun together at the station.
4. RECRUITMENT: Please continue to work on recruitment of your friends and neighbors. Our department is greatly in need of new, active volunteers, along with increased activity from our existing members.
5. PART-TIME PERSONNEL UPDATE: We will begin taking applications for a part-time firefighter next week. This position is open to current members who are certified firefighters and hiring preference will be given to those who are certified EMTs. You will have to complete a new application for the part-time position. We are working on getting the last tasks completed for payroll taxes and once we have that ready will be ready to hire staff. We will also be advertising to the public for external applicants.

Thank you to all the women who have raised and supported our firefighters. It takes a special person to be a volunteer, and an even more special person to raise one. Thank you to all of our Firefighter's mothers, wives, and all of our firefighters who are mothers for everything you do! We love you, Mom!
