September is National Library Card Sign Up Month! Getting a library card for everyone in your family/household is easy!

Fill out an online library card application (and visit within 7 days of that), or stop by to fill one out and get your card!

Anyone can apply for a card if you have proof of residence in Burke County (proof of residence can be a photographic id with the correct address OR an older photographic id with some other form of proof for current address – checks, bills, mail, etc.). Individuals under the age of 15 must have parental consent and are registered as a juvenile.

The literary world is mourning the loss of a true legend. Dolly Parton understood the extraordinary power of a simple story and the lasting impact a book can have on a child’s life. Through her beloved Imagination Library, she put millions of books into the hands and homes of children around the world, opening doors to a lifelong love of reading.

There may never be words quite adequate enough to express what Dolly meant to so many.

So, in her honor, read a book to someone you love. Read one with someone you love. Share a story.

Because perhaps the most beautiful way to remember a woman who gave the world so many books is to simply keep turning the pages. Thank you, Dolly, for leaving the world a little more literate, a little more imaginative, and a whole lot kinder. 🤍
