Join the teens at the Morganton Public Library next week as we learn to create our own DIY Nature Webs, learn about the best engineers of nature, and see what we can “catch” right here at the library!

After a decades-long stint in prison, former serial killer Carol is looking to kick back and relax in her new retirement home...until a fellow resident drops dead and Carol has to prove she actually didn't do it this time....

Carol is delighted to be leaving her tiny prison cell behind to take her place in a luxury retirement home. She's hoping her past as a serial killer won't come to light so she can make a few friends and find some murder-free hobbies. But it's not long before a fellow resident—who happens to be a former police commissioner—drops dead, and Carol's true identity is leaked—making catching up over daily activities of bingo and baking rather awkward.

Join us next Saturday (September 5) at 10am at the Valdese Public Library as we Stretch, Jump, and Move with Stretch and Grow of the Foothills. We will move our bodies to some fast rockin' beats, then cool it down with soft, slow yoga poses.

This program is for kids 3-years old through fifth grade. No registration is required. Call 828-874-2421 for more information.

Join at the Burke County Public Library for a program designed just for the homeschooled teen! Each program will feature and activity designed to align with unique homeschool learning styles and provide a platform for homeschooled teens to interact and learn together.

Don't forget that tomorrow is Mario Kart Club at the C.B. Hildebrand Public Library at 4pm! No pre-registration is required. This afternoon teens can race against their fellow MK-gamers in courses from MK8 and MarioWorld. Teens are encouraged to bring their own devices if they wish, limited controllers are available for library devices.

ThrowbackThursday:
Morganton Primary School Library – 1942. The school was located on the southeast corner of South Green and East Meeting Streets and was built during 1905-06. Its doors were opened to students in 1906. All grades were taught here until the new high school at 200 Avery Avenue opened in 1922. The school was razed in 1974. The Burke County Courthouse occupies the site today.

Greene Studio created the image that is part of the John T. Oxford Jr.’s Walt Greene Collection. The NC Room and the History Museum of Burke County provided this image to Picture Burke, a digital photograph preservation project of the Burke County Public Library.
