🚨 TGIF on the Square – Tonight 🚨
As the City of Morganton prepares for our third TGIF event downtown tonight, we are asking parents and guardians to please ensure children and teenagers are properly supervised throughout the evening.
During previous TGIF events, officers spent a large portion of the night responding to fights, arguments, disorderly behavior, and other disturbances involving unsupervised juveniles. Our goal is to keep TGIF a safe, family-friendly event that everyone can enjoy, but we need the community’s help to make that happen.
Parents, please know where your children are, who they are with, and establish expectations before arriving downtown. If juveniles become disruptive or involved in disturbances, officers will take appropriate enforcement action when necessary.
📋 Please also remember that City Ordinance Section 8-6009 states it is unlawful for any person under 15 years of age to be upon the streets of the city after noon without proper supervision. (Code 1966, Ch. 15, §15-28)
👮♂️ Officers will be on foot patrol and throughout the downtown area all evening. If you see suspicious activity or need assistance, please notify an officer immediately.
