This quote captivates one of the many aspects I love about the Navy. The jobs we perform as a normal daily task that exceed the ”norm” of a person back home. The opportunities in our hands are endless!

Today we got to visit Grafton High School Bearcats and meet with the students there. We had a blast watching everyone do exercises for us today! While walking around we met some of the amazing science department there and can’t wait to talk about the science/STEM programs in the Navy!

Today’s Navy History!

Today in 1912, The collier, USS Jupiter, is launched. The vessel is the first electrically-propelled Navy ship. She is renamed USS Langley in April 1920 with the designation of aircraft carrier CV-1 and a few months later becomes the Navys first aircraft carrier in March 1922 following conversion.

109 years ago the power of the aircraft carrier began. Today it’s known around the world as one of the most powerful assets in the world. How cool is that?

Today in 1908 Esther Voorhees Hasson was appointed as the first superintendent of the Navy Nurse Corps!

The Navy Nurse Corps is still an amazing program going today. It leads to endless opportunities in the medical field!

Some amazing Naval history for you to take into the weekend!

After a two-year restoration at historic Dry Dock 1 at Charlestown Navy Yard, Boston National Historical Park, America's oldest commissioned warship afloat, USS Constitution is refloated. Since entering dry dock on May 18, 2015, ship restorers from the Naval History and Heritage Command Detachment Boston, and teams of Constitution Sailors have worked to bring Old Ironsides back to her glory.
